Dexter transplanted to San Francisco, CA from her native Seattle, WA in 2008 and fell in love with the vibrant art scene and queer communities of the Bay Area. When she is not making or teaching art, Dexter can be found composing music with her band or getting into nature.

Artist statement

Through combinations of sculptural installation, live performance, video projection and soundscape I presents ambiguous forms and gestures that intentionally defy easy classification. Floating within a spectrum of desire and repulsion, my work creates opportunities to grapple with the anxiety of not being able to fully define a thing, be it conceptual or physical. Research into queer theory and gender studies is evident throughout my work as is my interest in the human psyche and societal taboos.
